Green Ivy on Stone Wall

No one Thinks you're making it up.

No one Thinks its imagined.

No one Thinks its your fault.

I guess if you have got to this page then you are looking for support and help, just as I was in 2007 when I was struggling to cope with the chronic conditions of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, more commonly known as CFS.

As a mum to four boys, a wife, carer for my in-laws and with a full-time role managing GP practices in the NHS, I became just too exhausted to cope anymore, my mind said you have to keep going, my body said very firmly, that is enough! Coming to terms with the fact that I wasn’t superwoman was a very humbling experience.

For someone who was used to supplying answers and juggling everything that life threw at me, the reality of my situation of not being able to cope or work, really took my legs from under me, I simply didn’t know who I was anymore.

Does any of that sound familiar?

I grew up in a very dysfunctional household, often moving with no real safety or security. Growing up that way became the ‘norm’ and being a sensitive child didn’t help. I now know these to be called Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). We also know that we are 60% more likely to be pre-disposed towards medically unexplained symptoms (MUS) and poor health in our Adulthood if we grow up in this type of environment.

Once I understood how this had impacted on me, I trained to become a Psychotherapist and now work with people to find their ‘Why’ behind the symptoms. Much research has been done and papers written on how the body keeps the score of all our traumas both big T and little T’s that we experience through life.

Dr Sarno in his book The Mind Body Prescription explains everything brilliantly.

You too can learn to relieve not just manage chronic pain and other physical symptoms by assessing these psychophysiological disorders (PPD) as you learn to manage your current life stressors, past traumas, suppressed emotions and the prolonged impact of ACE’s just as I did.

I bring along lived experience and learned experience to my client work and provide tools and techniques to people to support themselves in their emotional recovery. Believe me, recovery is possible as I and other people who have used these approaches to recovery can testify, if you are willing to put the work in.

If any of this resonates, as it clearly did with me, then please do get in touch. It takes nothing to have a chat on the phone to someone who knows and can understand where you are. How you have probably exhausted all avenues on trying to get some relief from your chronic pain. Calling me costs nothing other than 30 minutes of your time but it just might give you a new lease or life and pain free living.
